We’re Digital Baby!Friday, June 12th, 2009Today’s the big day when all television stations go digital and that means some sets may not be working. If you woke up this morning and had no TV signal, it’s because you TV isn’t digital and you don’t have a converter box. According to the Arizona Republic, if you have the right equipment, you still may have some work to do because four stations are moving to a new part of the broadcast spectrum, and your tuner needs to find them. Dig out your instruction book, or go to the menu screen on your converter box or TV. The rescan function might be called “auto-program” or “channel scan. If a station seems to be gone, rescan and it should reappear. If you’re using rabbit ears and have a tough time getting channels 10 & 12, you might need to install a rooftop antenna. Those signals have a hard time penetrating the chicken wire used in stucco homes. For info, call 1-888-CALL-FCC, or go to www.dtv.gov Happy viewing! Let There Be Chickens!Thursday, May 14th, 2009The new craze is raising chickens in your backyard! Be careful, because the laws are different in each city. See below… Glendale: Chickens are permitted but must be contained. Roosters are not allowed within 500 feet of a neighbor. Mesa: Chickens are “lawful,” but they must be confined at least 75 feet from neighbors. Phoenix: Chickens are permitted if the owner gets written permission from neighbors who live within 80 feet of a coop. Roosters are not allowed in residential neighborhoods. Scottsdale: Chickens can be kept, but their couops must be kept clean, and their noise cannot be a nuisance.
